- 10mm socket wrench
- 12mm socket wrench
- Pliers
- RTV silicone sealant
- Degreaser
- Shop towels
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative terminal of the battery to prevent electrical accidents.
2. Remove the engine cover.
3. Locate the intake manifold, which is located at the top of the engine block.
4. Remove the bolts and screws that hold the intake manifold in place. Some bolts may be accessible from the top, while others may be accessible from the bottom.
5. Use a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry the intake manifold off of the engine block. Be careful not to damage the intake manifold or the engine block.
6. Remove the old intake manifold gasket.
7. Clean the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and the engine block with degreaser and shop towels.
8. Apply a thin layer of RTV silicone sealant to the mating surfaces of the intake manifold and the engine block.
9. Carefully install the new intake manifold gasket onto the engine block.
10. Replace the bolts and screws that hold the intake manifold in place.
11. Tighten the bolts and screws to the specified torque.
12. Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the intake manifold gasket. If you see any leaks, tighten the bolts or screws until the leaks stop.
Additional notes:
- Be sure to use a high-quality intake manifold gasket. A poor-quality gasket may not seal properly and could cause an engine vacuum leak.
- Be careful not to overtighten the bolts and screws that hold the intake manifold in place. Overtightening can damage the intake manifold or the engine block.
- If you are not comfortable performing this repair yourself, you can take your car to a qualified mechanic.
