1. Open the hood of your 1995 Nissan Altima.
2. Locate the starter motor. It is usually located on the driver's side of the engine, near the transmission. It is a cylindrical-shaped object with two thick electrical wires connected to it.
Replace the starter:
1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shock while you are working on the starter.
2. Remove the starter mounting bolts. There are usually two or three bolts that hold the starter in place.
3. Remove the electrical wires from the starter. There are two thick wires connected to the starter. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the wires in place, and then disconnect the wires.
4. Remove the starter from the vehicle. Once the mounting bolts and electrical wires are disconnected, you can remove the starter from the vehicle.
5. Install the new starter. Place the new starter in the position of the old one, and secure it with the mounting bolts.
6. Reconnect the electrical wires to the starter. Connect the two thick wires to the starter, and tighten the nuts that hold them in place.
7. Reconnect the battery.
8. Test the starter. Turn the key in the ignition and listen for the starter to engage. If the starter engages, the engine will start.
Tips:
* If you are uncomfortable working on your own vehicle, you can have the starter replaced by a mechanic.
* It is important to disconnect the battery before working on the starter to avoid any electrical shock.
* Be careful not to drop the starter when removing it from the vehicle. It is a heavy object and could cause injury if it is dropped.
