Step 1: Remove the rear window defogger grid
1. Use a glass cleaner and microfiber cloth to clean the rear window.
2. Remove the defogger grid from the window by carefully peeling it off. If the grid is adhered with adhesive, you may need to use a heat gun or hairdryer to loosen the adhesive.
Step 2: Clean the rear window
Use glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean the rear window where the defogger grid was attached. Make sure the window is completely clean and free of any dirt, dust, or residue.
Step 3: Inspect the rear window defogger grid
Inspect the defogger grid for any breaks or cracks. If the grid is damaged, you will need to replace it with a new grid.
Step 4: Repair the rear window defogger grid (if necessary)
If the defogger grid is broken or cracked, you will need to repair it using a soldering iron and solder.
1. Use wire strippers to strip the ends of the wire on the defogger grid.
2. Apply flux to the ends of the wire and the grid.
3. Use the soldering iron to heat up the ends of the wire and solder them to the grid.
4. Repeat steps 2 and 3 for all of the breaks or cracks in the grid.
Step 5: Reattach the rear window defogger grid
1. Apply a heat-resistant tape to the back of the defogger grid.
2. Center the defogger grid on the rear window and press it firmly into place.
Step 6: Test the rear window defogger
Turn on the rear window defogger and test it to make sure it is working properly. The defogger should clear the condensation on the rear window within a few minutes.
Step 7: Clean the rear window
Use glass cleaner and a microfiber cloth to clean the rear window.
Step 8: Enjoy your newly repaired rear window defogger!
