* A new brake light assembly
* A Phillips head screwdriver
* A flat head screwdriver
* A socket wrench
* A 10mm socket
* A wire cutter/stripper
* Electrical tape
* Heat shrink tubing
* A soldering iron and solder
2. Park your car in a safe location. Make sure that the car is in park and the parking brake is engaged.
3. Open the trunk. You can access your vehicle’s high mounted brake light through your car’s trunk. Once you have opened your trunk, locate your high mounted brake light.
4. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shock while you are working on the brake light assembly.
5. Remove the old brake light assembly. The brake light assembly is held in place by four screws. Use the Phillips head screwdriver to remove the screws. Once the screws are removed, you can gently pry the brake light assembly out of the spoiler.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector. There is a single electrical connector that connects the brake light assembly to the vehicle's electrical system. Press down on the release tab and pull the connector apart.
7. Install the new brake light assembly. Gently insert the new brake light assembly into the spoiler. Make sure that the gasket is seated properly. Insert the four screws and tighten them securely.
8. Reconnecting the electrical connector. Connect the electrical connector to the vehicle's electrical system. Make sure that the connector is snapped in place securely.
9. Reconnect the battery.
10. Test the brake light. Turn on the headlights and press the brake pedal. The brake light should come on.
11. Close the trunk. You've successfully changed your rear wing spoiler. Go get your Subaru out in traffic!
