How do you replace the alternator belt on a 1985 Ciera?

You will need:

* Socket set

* Belt wrench

* New belt

Instructions:

1. Loosen the power steering pump bolts in the front of the car in the engine bay. They are on the right upper end of the engine bay. They are usually labeled or you can look into your owner's manual.

2. Jack the car up in the front left hand corner.

3. Place a jack stand under the car in a safe spot.

4. Remove the right front wheel.

5. Remove the plastic wheel well liner. There will be several plastic pushpins and possibly some torx head bolts.

6. Using a 15 mm socket, loosen the bolt on the power steering pump pulley but don't remove the bolt.

7. Place a belt wrench around the power steering pulley and turn it clockwise. This will loosen the belt and allow you to slip the alternator belt off.

8. Remove the old belt.

9. Slide the new belt into position.

10. Turn the power steering pulley clockwise with the belt wrench until the belt is tight.

11. Tighten the power steering pump pulley bolt.

12. Replace the wheel well liner.

13. Replace the wheel.

14. Lower the car and remove the jack stand.

15. Repeat the process on the left front corner to adjust the alternator belt.
