The steering rack in some 2019 RAV4s manufactured between February and June 2020 may not have been properly assembled. This can cause the steering wheel to detach from the steering column, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota recalled approximately 1.5 million RAV4s worldwide for this issue. Dealers will inspect and, if necessary, replace the steering rack free of charge.
2016-2018 Toyota Corolla
The steering rack in some 2016-2018 Corollas manufactured between August 2021 and August 2022 may be defective. This can cause the steering wheel to become difficult to turn, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota recalled approximately 1.3 million Corollas worldwide for this issue. Dealers will inspect the steering rack and, if necessary, replace it free of charge.
2013-2018 Toyota Prius
The steering rack in some 2013-2018 Priuses may become damaged if the car is driven on rough roads. This can cause the steering wheel to vibrate or become difficult to turn, increasing the risk of a crash.
Toyota recalled approximately 1 million Prius in the United States for this issue. Dealers will replace the steering rack free of charge.
