1. Make sure the seat belt buckle hasn't been damaged.
2. If the buckle is damaged, it may not be able to latch properly.
Reset the seat belt.
1. Pull the seat belt out all the way.
2. Press and hold the red button on the buckle.
3. While holding the button, slowly let the seat belt go until it winds back in.
Check the latch.
1. Make sure there is nothing blocking the latch from closing.
2. The latch may be misaligned, if so align it properly.
Try another seat belt.
1. If you have another seat belt in the back seat, try using that one. If it works, then the problem is with the seat belt buckle or latch.
2. If the other seat belt doesn't work, then the problem is likely with the seat belt retractor.
If you have tried all of these things and the seat belt still won't latch, you should take your car to a mechanic. There may be a problem with the seat belt assembly that needs to be fixed.
