How do you take out upper ball joint from the arm Honda civic 1989?

To remove the upper ball joint from the arm on a 1989 Honda Civic, follow these steps:

1. Park your car on a flat surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel that's on the side of the ball joint you'll be removing.

3. Jack up the car and support on jack stands.

4. Remove the wheel.

5. Locate the upper ball joint. It's the joint that connects the upper control arm to the steering knuckle.

6. Loosen the ball joint nut with a wrench. The ball joint nut is on the top of the ball joint and is usually 17mm.

7. Remove the split pin that holds the ball joint stud in place.

8. Pry the ball joint out of the steering knuckle using a pry bar or a ball joint separator tool.

9. Remove the ball joint nut completely.

10. Slide the ball joint stud out of the steering knuckle.

11. Install new ball joint.

12. Reinstall the split pin.

13. Tighten the ball joint nut to the specified torque.

14. Reinstall the wheel.

15. Lower the car off the jack stands.

16. Tighten lug nuts.

17. Test the ball joint by moving the wheel up and down and from side to side.

18. Ensure the ball joint is securely seated in the steering knuckle and the nut is tight before driving the car.
