- New transmission fluid (check your owner's manual for the recommended type and quantity)
Instructions:
1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Locate the transmission filter. The transmission filter is located on the bottom of the transmission, near the oil pan. It is typically a cylindrical or rectangular metal housing with a black plastic cap.
3. Place an oil drain pan under the transmission filter. This will catch any fluid that leaks out when you remove the filter.
4. Remove the transmission filter cap. Use the 10mm socket to loosen the bolts holding the cap in place. Be careful not to drop the bolts into the oil drain pan.
5. Remove the old transmission filter. Once the cap is removed, you can pull out the old filter. Be careful not to spill any fluid.
6. Clean the transmission filter housing. Use a clean rag to wipe out any dirt or debris from the transmission filter housing.
7. Install the new transmission filter gasket. Place the new gasket on the transmission filter housing. Make sure that the gasket is seated properly.
8. Install the new transmission filter. Insert the new transmission filter into the housing. Make sure that the filter is seated properly.
9. Replace the transmission filter cap. Replace the transmission filter cap and tighten the bolts.
10. Add new transmission fluid. Use the funnel to add new transmission fluid to the transmission. Add the amount of fluid as specified in your owner's manual.
11. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new transmission fluid through the transmission.
12. Check the transmission fluid level. Use the transmission fluid dipstick to check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "Full" and "Add" marks on the dipstick.
