How do you change the front brake pads on a 2004 Toyota solara?

Tools and Materials Needed:

1. Jack and jack stands

2. Lug wrench

3. Car Ramps (optional)

4. Caliper wrench or C-Clamp

5. Flathead screwdriver

6. Caliper grease

7. New brake pads

8. Brake cleaner

Instructions:

1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but do not remove them completely.

3. Jack up the front of your vehicle and support it with jack stands. Never rely on a jack alone to support your vehicle while working under it.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.

5. Use a flat-head screwdriver to release the metal clip holding the brake pads in place. Be careful not to lose this clip.

6. Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper bracket.

7. Clean the caliper bracket and the caliper piston using brake cleaner.

8. Apply a thin layer of caliper grease to the caliper piston and slide it back into the caliper.

9. Insert the new brake pads into the caliper bracket and secure them with the metal clip.

10. Reinstall the front wheels and lug nuts.

11. Lower the vehicle back down and remove the jack stands.

12. Test the brakes by firmly applying the brake pedal a few times.

Tips:

* Make sure the new brake pads are the correct size and shape for your vehicle.

* If the brake fluid is low, add some before reinstalling the wheels.

* If the brake pads are squealing or making a grinding noise, you may need to have the rotors machined or replaced.

* Always follow the manufacturer's instructions when replacing brake pads.
