_Warning_: Brake fluid, is poisonous if ingested. Do not drink brake fluid. If brake fluid comes into contact with skin or eyes, wash affected areas immediately and completely with water. Wash with soap and water after contact. If inhaled, seek fresh air immediately. Seek immediate medical attention if large amounts are ingested or if symptoms persist after skin or eye contact.
_**Caution:__ Brake systems on vehicles equipped with ABS (Anti-lock Brake System) function differently from those without the system when fluid is added to the system. Therefore, be sure to add brake fluid slowly into the reservoir in order to prevent spillage and damage to the vehicle.
1. Clean the master cylinder reservoir cover and the area around it to prevent contamination.
2. Push down the lock tab on the master cylinder reservoir cap and remove the cap.
3. Inspect the brake fluid level. The brake fluid level should be maintained at the "MAX" level mark.
* _If the level is low, add enough brake fluid to bring it up to the "MAX" level._
4. Install the master cylinder reservoir cap and push down on it to lock it in place.
5. Pump the brake pedal several times until it feels firm.
6. Check for any leaks from the brake system.
7. If there are any leaks, repair them before continuing.
