1. Check the brake pedal: Make sure the brake pedal is fully depressed. If the brake pedal is not depressed, the gear shift will not come out of park.
2. Check the shift lock: The shift lock is a safety feature that prevents the gear shift from being moved out of park without the brake pedal being depressed. If the shift lock is engaged, you will not be able to move the gear shift out of park. To disengage the shift lock, press the brake pedal and then press the shift lock release button. The shift lock release button is usually located on the side of the gear shift.
3. Check the transmission fluid: If the transmission fluid level is low, it can cause the gear shift to stick in park. Check the transmission fluid level and add more fluid if necessary.
4. Check the shift cable: The shift cable is the cable that connects the gear shift to the transmission. If the shift cable is damaged or disconnected, the gear shift will not come out of park. Inspect the shift cable for any damage or disconnections.
5. Check the transmission: If the transmission is damaged or not functioning properly, the gear shift will not come out of park. Have the transmission inspected by a qualified mechanic.
6. Use a pry bar or screwdriver gently pry the gearshift out of the Park position. Be careful not to damage any of the components near the gearshift.
7. Call a tow truck If you cannot fix the problem yourself, you will need to call a tow truck to help you get your vehicle towed to a mechanic.
