1. Purchase a new brake switch. Make sure it's the correct one for your specific model and year.
2. Park the vehicle on a flat, level surface and apply the parking brake.
3. Turn off the engine and wait for it to cool down.
4. Open the hood to access the engine bay.
5. Locate the brake switch. It is usually mounted on the brake pedal arm, near the top.
6. Disconnect the electrical connector from the brake switch.
7. Use a wrench to loosen the mounting bolts or nuts holding the brake switch in place.
8. Remove the old brake switch. Be careful not to lose any of the springs or other small components.
