How do you replace alternator belt 1994 Geo Metro?

Tools and Materials Needed:

- Flathead screwdriver

- Pliers

- Socket wrench (with 10mm and 12mm sockets)

- New serpentine belt (for 1994 Geo Metro, the belt size is usually M153)

Step-by-Step Instructions:

1. Park your Geo Metro on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and let it cool down completely.

2. Open the hood of your Geo Metro. Locate the serpentine belt on the front of the engine. It is the long, ribbed belt that runs across several pulleys.

3. Loosen the tensioner pulley. The tensioner pulley is located near the bottom of the engine. It is the pulley with a spring-loaded arm. Use a 10mm socket wrench to loosen the bolt on the tensioner pulley.

4. Slide the old belt off the pulleys. Once the tensioner pulley is loosened, you can slide the old belt off of the pulleys. Start with the outer-most pulley and work your way inward.

5. Install the new belt. Start by wrapping the new belt around the outer-most pulley. Then, work your way inward, wrapping the belt around each pulley as you go.

6. Tighten the tensioner pulley. Once the new belt is in place, tighten the tensioner pulley. Use a 10mm socket wrench to tighten the bolt on the tensioner pulley.

7. Check the belt tension. The belt should be snug, but not too tight. You should be able to twist it about 1/4 of an inch (6mm) with your thumb and forefinger.

8. Close the hood of your Geo Metro. Start the engine and check for any squealing or grinding noises. If you hear any noises, re-check the belt tension.
