Replacing the Third Brake Light on a 2000 Hyundai Elantra

1. Gather the necessary tools and parts. You will need:

* A flat-head screwdriver

* A Phillips-head screwdriver

* A replacement third brake light

* A sealant (optional)

2. Prepare the car. Park the car in a safe location, and turn off the engine. Let the car cool down if it has been running.

3. Locate the third brake light. The third brake light is located at the rear of the vehicle, above the rear window.

4. Remove the old third brake light. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the plastic lens cover off the light. Then, use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the two screws that hold the light in place. Remove the old third brake light.

5. Apply a sealant to the new third brake light. This will help to prevent water and moisture from getting into the light and causing it to malfunction.

6. Install the new third brake light. Place the new light in the opening, and insert the two screws. Tighten the screws until the light is secure.

7. Replace the lens cover. Snap the lens cover back into place.

8. Test the third brake light. Turn on the headlights, and press the brake pedal. The third brake light should illuminate.
