- Lug wrench
- Socket set
- Ball joint remover
- Pickle fork
- New upper ball joint
- Grease
2.) Prepare the truck.
- Park the truck on a level surface.
- Set the parking brake.
- Chock the wheels.
- Raise the front of the truck with a jack and place it on jack stands.
3.) Remove the wheel.
- Use the lug wrench to loosen the lug nuts.
- Remove the lug nuts and the wheel.
4.) Remove the upper ball joint.
- Use the socket set to remove the nuts that hold the upper ball joint to the control arm.
- Use a ball joint remover or pickle fork to separate the ball joint from the control arm.
5.) Install the new ball joint.
- Grease the ball joint.
- Position the ball joint in the control arm.
- Install the nuts that hold the upper ball joint to the control arm.
6.) Reinstall the wheel.
- Replace the wheel.
- Install the lug nuts and tighten them with the lug wrench.
7.) Lower the truck.
- Remove the jack stands and lower the truck.
8.) Test the ball joint.
- Take the truck for a short drive and test the ball joint.
