Instructions:
1. Remove the Old Door Handle:
- Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws that secure the interior door handle to the door.
- Once the screws are removed, gently pull the handle to detach it from the door.
- If there's a latch attached to the handle, use the flat-head screwdriver to release the latch mechanism and remove it.
2. Take Measurements:
- Before installing the new door handle, use the tape measure to take measurements of the door's thickness and the diameter of the borehole for the handle.
3. Remove the Latch Assembly:
- Remove any remaining screws that hold the old latch assembly in place.
- Carefully remove the latch assembly from the door, noting the orientation of the latch mechanism.
4. Install the New Latch:
- Position the new latch assembly in the door, ensuring proper orientation and alignment with the existing strike plate.
- Install any screws required to secure the latch assembly.
5. Install the Door Handle:
- Insert the spindle of the new door handle through the latch assembly from the exterior side of the door.
- Secure the handle in place by installing the screws that came with the handle.
6. Reattach the Latch:
- Reattach the latch mechanism, ensuring it properly aligns with the strike plate.
- Replace the screws to secure the latch.
7. Test the Handle:
- Gently turn the door handle to ensure it operates smoothly and the latch engages with the strike plate.
- Open and close the door several times to check for proper functioning.
8. Tighten the Screws:
- If necessary, tighten the screws further to ensure the door handle and all components are securely fastened.
9. Cleanup:
- Clean up any debris or leftover screws from the work area.
