How do you remove transmission from john deere 170 riding lawnmower?

Tools needed:

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Phillips-head screwdriver

- Drain pan

- Safety glasses

Procedure:

1. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.

2. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the transmission fluid.

3. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.

4. Place a drain pan under the transmission fluid drain plug.

5. Loosen the drain plug and allow the fluid to drain into the pan.

6. Once the fluid has drained, reinstall the drain plug.

7. Remove the starter solenoid wire from the starter.

8. Remove the battery cables from the battery.

9. Remove the air cleaner cover.

10. Remove the spark plug wire from the spark plug.

11. Remove the transmission fluid filter.

12. Locate the transmission mount bolts and loosen them.

13. Use a pry bar to pry the transmission away from the engine.

14. Once the transmission is free from the engine, lift it off of the mower.

Tips:

- When removing the transmission mount bolts, be careful not to drop them into the transmission.

- If the transmission is stuck, you may need to use a pry bar to loosen it.

- Be careful when lifting the transmission as it is heavy.
