This will prevent you from getting shocked while you are working.
2. Remove the air cleaner housing.
This will give you more room to work.
3. Remove the starter solenoid wires.
There are two wires that connect to the starter solenoid. Use a wrench to loosen the nuts that hold the wires in place, and then disconnect the wires.
4. Remove the starter mounting bolts.
There are two bolts that hold the starter in place. Use a wrench to loosen the bolts, and then remove them.
5. Remove the starter.
Once the mounting bolts are removed, you can remove the starter. Be careful not to drop the starter.
6. Install the new starter.
Place the new starter in position and hand-tighten the mounting bolts. Then, use a wrench to tighten the bolts until they are snug.
7. Connect the starter solenoid wires.
Reconnect the starter solenoid wires to the terminals on the starter. Tighten the nuts that hold the wires in place.
8. Install the air cleaner housing.
Replace the air cleaner housing that you removed in step 2.
9. Connect the battery.
Reconnect the negative battery terminal to the battery.
Your 1992 Sonoma starter should now be replaced!
