* Socket wrenches

* Jack and jack stands
* New alternator
* Replacement belt (if necessary)
Instructions
1. Disconnect the battery. This will prevent any electrical shocks from occurring while you are working on the alternator.
2. Raise the vehicle and support it on jack stands. This will give you access to the alternator.
3. Locate the alternator. It is usually located on the front of the engine, near the top.
4. Disconnect the electrical connections from the alternator. There will be a positive (+) terminal and a negative (-) terminal.
5. Remove the bolts that hold the alternator in place. There may be one or two bolts.
6. Remove the alternator from the vehicle. Be careful not to drop it.
7. Install the new alternator. Reverse the steps that you took to remove the old alternator.
8. Connect the electrical connections to the alternator.
9. Tighten the bolts that hold the alternator in place.
10. Lower the vehicle.
11. Start the engine and test the alternator. The alternator should charge the battery and power the electrical components of the vehicle.
Tips
* If you are not comfortable working on electrical components, you may want to have the alternator replaced by a qualified mechanic.
* Be sure to disconnect the battery before you start working on the alternator. This will prevent any electrical shocks from occurring.
* If you are replacing the alternator belt, be sure to get the correct size belt. The belt should be tight, but not too tight.
* Test the alternator after you have installed it. The alternator should charge the battery and power the electrical components of the vehicle.
