How do you replace brakes pads on 2001 solara?

Tools and Materials:

- Jack and jack stands

- Socket set

- Wrench set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- Caliper grease

- Brake cleaner

- New brake pads

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake. If necessary turn the wheels to give yourself access to the lug nuts.

2. Loosen the lug nuts on the wheels that you will be working on, but do not remove them completely.

3. Jack up the car and place jack stands under the frame, near the wheels that you are working on. Make sure the car is stable before proceeding.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheels.

5. Locate the brake caliper on the back side of the wheel hub. It is usually a metal housing that contains the brake pads and pistons.

6. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the brake pad retaining clip out of place.

7. Slide the old brake pads out of the caliper. Be careful not to damage the caliper or the brake rotor.

8. Clean the caliper and the brake rotor with brake cleaner. Make sure to remove all of the old brake pad material and dirt.

9. Apply a thin coat of caliper grease to the new brake pads. This will help to prevent them from squeaking.

10. Slide the new brake pads into the caliper. Make sure that they are seated properly.

11. Replace the brake pad retaining clip.

12. Reinstall the wheels and lug nuts. Tighten the lug nuts in a star pattern, and make sure that they are snug.

13. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.

14. Test the brakes by applying them gently. The brakes should feel firm and should not make any strange noises.
