How do you remove front brake rotor on 99 kia sportage?

Tools Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket wrench set

- 17mm socket

- Breaker bar

- Flathead screwdriver

- Hammer

Instructions:

1. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels, but do not remove them completely.

2. Jack up the front of your car and secure it on jack stands.

3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.

4. Remove the caliper mounting bracket bolts. The caliper bracket is the part that holds the brake pads in place.

5. If the rotor does not come off easily, you may need to insert a flathead screwdriver between the rotor and the hub and gently pry it off. Be careful not to damage the rotor or the hub.

6. Repeat steps 4-6 on the other side of the vehicle.

7. Wipe off any rust or dirt from the wheel hub and mating surfaces on the rear of the rotor with a wire brush. If the rotor is severely rusted or damaged, it will need to be replaced.

8. Inspect the brake pads for wear. If the pads are less than 1/4 inch thick, they will need to be replaced.

9. Reinstall the rotor, securing it to the hub with a lug nut.

10. Reinstall the caliper mounting bracket bolts.

11. Reinstall the lug nuts and wheels.

12. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
