1. Insert Key and Turn to "ON" Position: Insert your key into the ignition and turn it to the "ON" position without starting the engine.
2. Press and Hold Rear Door Button: While the key is in the "ON" position, locate and press the power door lock/unlock button for either of the rear doors. Hold the button down continuously.
3. Open and Close Rear Door: While holding the button, open the corresponding rear door and close it again completely.
4. Repeat for Other Rear Door (if applicable): If you have another rear door, repeat the same process for that door as well.
5. Wait and Test: After you've completed the process for both rear doors, wait approximately 30 seconds to allow the reprogramming to take effect. Then, try opening the rear doors and check if the alarm still triggers.
Option 2: Deactivating Sensors with Fuse
1. Access the Fuse Box: Open the driver's side front door and locate the fuse box cover inside the dashboard. Remove the cover to expose the fuses.
2. Locate the CHIME Fuse: Look for the fuse labeled "CHIME." This fuse is usually located in a position marked "CHIME" or "ALARM."
3. Remove the CHIME Fuse: Use fuse-pulling pliers or tweezers to carefully remove the CHIME fuse from its slot.
4. Test the Alarm: Close the fuse box cover and try opening the rear doors to check if the alarm still triggers.
5. Reinsert the CHIME Fuse (Optional): If you decide that you don't want to disable the alarm permanently, you can put the CHIME fuse back into its slot later on.
Remember that deactivating the sensors using the CHIME fuse will also silence other chime sounds in your vehicle, such as seatbelt reminders and key-in-ignition warnings. If you choose this method, be mindful of these potential drawbacks and consider whether the loss of these chimes is acceptable to you.
