1. Connect the code reader or scanner to the OBD-II port of your vehicle. This port is usually located under the dashboard, near the driver's side door.
2. Turn on the ignition, but do not start the engine.
3. Follow the instructions on the code reader or scanner to read and clear the trouble codes.
4. Once the trouble codes have been cleared, turn off the ignition and disconnect the code reader or scanner.
5. Start the engine and check to see if the service engine light is still illuminated. If the light is off, then the reset was successful.
