1. Gather your materials. You will need:
* A new CR2025 coin battery
* A small flat-head screwdriver
* A soft cloth
2. Prepare the key.
- Gently pry open the small indentation between the plastic cover and the metal insert at the top of the key
- Gently squeeze the button release and hold
- Using the small flat-head screwdriver, pry open the key housing, starting from the seam.
3. Remove the old battery. Use the flat-head screwdriver to pry the old battery out of its compartment by pressing the edge or pushing from below.
4. Insert the new battery. Place the new CR2025 coin battery into the compartment ensuring that its positive side (+) faces upward with the negative side (-) toward you.
5. Reassemble the key.
- Snap the two case halves back together
- Place the metal part back in place
- Slide the cover into place. Ensure that it securely closes by gently pressing on the key halves or squeezing a little
6. Test the key. Press the buttons on the key to make sure that they are working properly.
Your Mazda MX5 key battery has now been successfully changed.
