Note: Make sure you have all necessary replacement parts and tools before starting the process.
Step 1: Gather Tools
- Replacement passenger side view mirror
- Phillips head screwdriver
- Flat head screwdriver
- Pliers
- Wrench
Step 2: Remove Interior Mirror Cover
- Locate the interior mirror cover on the door panel.
- Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry off the cover carefully, starting from one corner and working your way around.
- Be gentle to avoid breaking the cover.
Step 3: Disconnect Wiring Harness
- Once the cover is removed, you will see the mirror's wiring harness.
- Disconnect the wiring by pressing on the release tabs and unplugging the connector.
Step 4: Remove the Old Mirror
- Locate the bolts or nuts holding the mirror assembly to the door.
- Use the wrench or pliers to loosen and remove these bolts or nuts.
- Be careful not to drop the bolts or nuts.
Step 5: Unbolt Mirror Housing
- Once the bolts or nuts are removed, gently pull the old mirror housing away from the door.
- Disconnect any remaining wires or cables attached to the mirror, if applicable.
Step 6: Install the New Mirror Housing
- Position the new mirror housing into place, aligning it with the mounting holes on the door.
- Insert the bolts or nuts you removed earlier and tighten them securely.
Step 7: Connect the Wiring
- Reconnect the wiring harness that you disconnected earlier to the new mirror assembly.
- Make sure the connection is secure.
Step 8: Replace Interior Mirror Cover
- Reattach the interior mirror cover by snapping it back into place. Ensure that all the clips engage securely.
Step 9: Test the Mirror
- Adjust the new side mirror to your desired position.
- Start the Suburban and test the mirror's controls, including the power adjustment and defroster (if equipped).
