Materials Needed:
- New wiper blades (confirm the correct size for your vehicle)
- Clean cloth or paper towels
- Flat-head screwdriver (optional)
Steps:
1. Preparation:
- Turn off the vehicle and ensure the wipers are in the "off" position.
- Lift the hood of the vehicle to access the wiper arms.
2. Locate Wiper Arms:
- Identify the wiper arms on your Silverado. There should be two wiper arms, one for the driver's side and one for the passenger's side.
3. Remove Old Wiper Blades:
- Press down on the release tab of the old wiper blade.
- While pressing the release tab, lift the wiper blade up and away from the wiper arm.
- Repeat this step for the other wiper blade.
4. Clean Wiper Arms (Optional):
- Take this opportunity to clean the wiper arms with a clean cloth or paper towels to remove any dirt, debris, or build-up.
5. Attach New Wiper Blades:
- Align the new wiper blade with the wiper arm.
- Ensure that the hook or attachment point of the new wiper blade is aligned with the corresponding part of the wiper arm.
- Press down on the new wiper blade until it snaps into place.
- Repeat this step for the other wiper blade.
6. Test the Wipers:
- Turn on the wipers to check if they are working properly and clearing the windshield effectively.
7. Close the Hood:
- Ensure the wiper blades are secure and operating correctly, then close the hood of the Silverado.
Note: If the wiper blades on your Silverado have an additional clip or retainer, use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry the clip or retainer open to release the old wiper blade and install the new one.
Replace the old wiper blades with the new ones. Some vehicles may have the wiper arm spring loaded, requiring extra force to remove and install the new blades.
