How do you install a neutral safety switch on 93 S10?

Step 1: Park Your Truck Safely

Before you begin any work, make sure your truck is securely parked on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and set the transmission to "Park."

Step 2: Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable

This will help prevent any electrical accidents while you are doing your work.

Step 3: Locate the Neutral Safety Switch

The neutral safety switch is located on the driver's side of the transmission.

Step 4: Remove the Old Neutral Safety Switch

Use a wrench to loosen the bolts holding the neutral safety switch onto the transmission. Once the bolts are loose, remove them by hand. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.

Step 5: Install the New Neutral Safety Switch

Install the new neutral safety switch by reversing the steps you took to remove the old one. Make sure that the switch is properly aligned with the transmission and that the bolts are tightened securely. Reconnect the electrical connector.

Step 6: Test the Neutral Safety Switch

Start your truck and check that the neutral safety switch is working properly. The truck should not start unless the transmission is in "Park" or "Neutral."

Step 7: Connect the Negative Battery Cable

Reinstall the negative terminal by replacing the cable or wire over the terminal, and reinstalling the bolt and nut.

Step 8: Take Your Truck for a Test Drive

To ensure the neutral safety switch has been installed correctly, take your truck for a test drive and check that the following conditions are met:

* The truck starts only in “Park” and “Neutral.”

* The truck cannot be started in any gear other than “Park” and “Neutral.”

* The gearshift lever cannot be moved out of “Park” unless the brake pedal is depressed.
