Instructions
.) Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
.) Engage the parking brake.
.) Disconnect the negative battery terminal using a wrench.
.) Locate the alternator. It is on the passenger side of the engine, about halfway up the block.
.) Unbolt the serpentine belt idler pulley and swing the pulley out of the way.
.) Remove the electrical connections from the alternator. There will be a positive and negative terminal. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the plastic covers over the terminals.
.) Loosen the alternator bracket bolts. There are two bolts that hold the alternator in place. Use a ratchet and 14 mm socket to loosen the bolts.
.) Remove the alternator. Once the bolts are loosened, you can lift the alternator out of its bracket.
.) Install the new alternator. Place the new alternator in the bracket and reverse the steps you took to remove the old alternator.
.) Tighten the serpentine belt idler pulley and swing the pulley back into place.
.) Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
.) Start the engine and check the charging system. The alternator should be charging the battery at 13.8-14.2 volts.
