1. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
2. Open the hood of your vehicle.
3. Locate the negative battery terminal. It is usually marked with a "-" sign.
4. Use a wrench or pliers to loosen the nut or bolt that secures the negative battery cable to the terminal.
5. Remove the negative battery cable from the terminal and set it aside.
6. Wait for at least 30 seconds. This will allow the vehicle's electrical system to discharge and reset the check engine light.
7. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the terminal and tighten the nut or bolt.
8. Close the hood of your vehicle.
9. Start the engine and check the dashboard. The check engine light should be off.
