Materials Needed:
- Replacement indicator light control panel
- Phillips screwdriver
- Flathead screwdriver
Step-by-Step Guide:
1. Disconnect the Negative Battery Cable:
- Start by disconnecting the negative battery cable to prevent any electrical hazards during the process. Use a wrench to loosen the cable nut and disconnect it from the battery.
2. Remove the Instrument Panel Bezel:
- Use a flathead screwdriver to gently pry and remove the instrument panel bezel. It may be held in place by clips, so be careful not to break them.
3. Unscrew the Panel Screws:
- Once the bezel is removed, you will see the indicator light control panel. Remove the screws that hold the panel in place using a Phillips screwdriver. There may be two screws at the top and two at the bottom.
4. Disconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Locate and disconnect the electrical connectors that are attached to the indicator light control panel. Press the release tabs on the connectors to detach them.
5. Remove the Control Panel:
- After the electrical connectors are disconnected, you can carefully pull the indicator light control panel out from the instrument panel.
6. Transfer Switches and Indicators:
- If the replacement panel doesn't come with the switches and indicators already installed, you will need to transfer them from the old panel to the new one.
7. Install the New Panel:
- Align the new indicator light control panel with the mounting bracket and insert it into the instrument cluster. Secure it in place using the screws you removed earlier.
8. Reconnect Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect the electrical connectors that you disconnected earlier to establish power to the control panel.
9. Replace the Instrument Panel Bezel:
- Reattach the instrument panel bezel by aligning it correctly and gently pressing it until it snaps back into place.
10. Reconnect the Battery:
- Finally, reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery.
Once you have completed all these steps, your Escalade's indicator light control panel should be replaced successfully. It is recommended to test the indicator lights and turn signals to ensure they are working correctly before starting the vehicle.
