1. Park the vehicle on level ground and turn off the engine.
2. Open the hood and locate the transmission fluid dipstick. It is usually located near the back of the engine compartment, on the driver's side.
3. Pull out the dipstick and wipe it clean with a rag.
4. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid dipstick tube until it is fully seated.
5. Pull out the dipstick again and check the fluid level. The fluid level should be between the "FULL" and "ADD" marks on the dipstick.
6. If the fluid level is low, add transmission fluid until it reaches the "FULL" mark on the dipstick. Use only the type of transmission fluid recommended by the vehicle manufacturer.
7. Reinsert the dipstick into the transmission fluid dipstick tube until it is fully seated.
8. Close the hood of the vehicle.
