Replace rear brake pads ON A Isuzu bighorn?

Tools and Materials:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Socket set

- Flat-head screwdriver

- New rear brake pads

- Brake cleaner

- C-clamp

- Safety glasses

Instructions:

1. Prepare your vehicle. Park your Isuzu Bighorn on a level surface and engage the parking brake. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down. Engage the parking brake. Loosen the lug nuts on the rear wheels, but do not remove them completely.

2. Raise your vehicle. Place the jack under the frame of your Bighorn, near the rear wheels. Raise the vehicle until the wheels are off the ground. Secure the vehicle with jack stands.

3. Remove the wheels. Remove the lug nuts and pull the wheels off of the vehicle.

4. Locate the brake caliper. The brake caliper is the metal housing that surrounds the brake pads. It is located on the back of the wheel hub.

5. Remove the brake caliper. There are two bolts that hold the brake caliper in place. Use a socket wrench to remove these bolts. Once the bolts are removed, you can slide the brake caliper off of the rotor.

6. Inspect the brake rotor. The brake rotor is the metal disc that the brake pads press against to slow down or stop your vehicle. Inspect the rotor for any cracks or damage. If the rotor is damaged, it will need to be replaced.

7. Remove the old brake pads. There are two brake pads on each side of the rotor. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry the old brake pads out of the caliper.

8. Clean the brake caliper. Use brake cleaner to clean the brake caliper and the rotor. Make sure to remove all of the old brake pad material.

9. Install the new brake pads. Place the new brake pads into the caliper. Make sure that the pads are seated properly.

10. Reinstall the brake caliper. Slide the brake caliper back onto the rotor. Install the two bolts that hold the caliper in place. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.

11. Lower your vehicle. Remove the jack stands and lower the vehicle.

12. Test the brakes. Pump the brake pedal several times to make sure that the brakes are working properly.

13. Replace the wheels. Put the wheels back on the vehicle and tighten the lug nuts.
