- Chocks
- Car jack
- Jack stands
- Socket wrench
- Flathead screwdriver
- Hammer
- New brake rotors
- Brake cleaner
Instructions:
Step 1: Prepare the vehicle.
Park the Santa Fe on a level surface. Engage the parking brake and chock the wheels. Remove the lug nuts on the front or rear wheel (whichever is needed) and remove the wheel.
Step 2: Remove the brake caliper.
Locate the two bolts holding the brake caliper to the steering knuckle. Remove these bolts and set aside. Remove the brake caliper and caliper bracket from the rotor.
Step 3: Inspect the rotor.
Inspect the old rotor for any signs of damage or wear. Look for deep scratches, gouges, or cracks. If any of these are present, the rotor must be replaced.
Step 4: Install the new brake rotor.
If necessary, clean the hub with brake cleaner. Set the new rotor in place on the hub. Tighten the lug nuts to finger-tightness.
Step 5: Reinstall the brake caliper.
Slide the brake caliper back onto the steering knuckle. Secure it in place with the two bolts you removed in step 2.
Tighten the lug nuts until they are snug then lower the vehicle and fully tighten the lug nuts. Repeat for the other wheel if needed.
Test the brakes before driving.
Depress the brake pedal several times to ensure that the brakes are working properly. If you notice any problems such as a spongy or pulsating pedal, have the brakes inspected by a qualified mechanic.
Note: These instructions are general guidelines only and may vary depending on the specific vehicle. Always consult your vehicle owner's manual or a qualified mechanic for specific instructions for changing the brake rotors on your Hyundai Santa Fe.
