1. Locate the carburetor on your Craftsman edger. It is usually located near the top of the engine.
2. Remove the air filter from the carburetor.
3. Look at the carburetor throat opening. You will see a small screw inside the throat that controls the fuel mixture.
4. Use a screwdriver to turn the screw clockwise to lean out the fuel mixture, or counterclockwise to richen the fuel mixture.
5. Start your Craftsman edger and let it run for a few minutes.
6. If the engine is running too lean, it will sputter and stall. If the engine is running too rich, it will smoke and bog down.
7. Adjust the carburetor screw until the engine runs smoothly.
8. Replace the air filter.
