1. Gather the necessary tools and materials:
- Jack and jack stands
- Oil drain pan
- New front axle oil seals (2)
- Oil filter wrench
- New oil filter
- Axle oil
- Funnel
- Torque wrench
- Safety glasses
- Gloves
2. Prepare the tractor by parking it on a level surface and engaging the parking brake. Allow the engine to cool down if it has been running.
3. Raise the front of the tractor using the jack and jack stands. Make sure the tractor is securely supported before proceeding.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the front axle to catch any oil that leaks out.
5. Remove the oil drain plug from the front axle using the oil drain pan. Allow the oil to drain completely.
6. Once the oil has drained, remove the oil filter located near the front axle. Use the oil filter wrench to loosen and remove the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
7. Clean the oil filter mating surface on the engine block using a clean cloth.
8. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
9. Screw on the new oil filter by hand until it is snug. Do not over-tighten the oil filter.
10. Replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely to prevent leaks.
11. Lower the tractor using the jack and jack stands.
12. Locate the front axle oil seals on both sides of the tractor. They are typically located near the front wheels.
13. Using a pry bar or a flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry out the old oil seals from their housings. Be careful not to damage the seal housing or surrounding components.
14. Clean the seal housing thoroughly, removing any dirt, debris, or old sealant.
15. Apply a thin coat of sealant around the outer edge of the new oil seals.
16. Press the new oil seals into the housing until they are seated properly. Make sure the seals are installed correctly, with the lip facing inward.
17. Refill the front axle with the specified amount of axle oil. Use the funnel to add the oil through the fill plug on the front axle.
18. Check the oil level using the dipstick. Make sure the oil level is between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
19. Test the tractor to ensure that the oil leak has been repaired. Start the tractor and let it run for a few minutes, checking for any leaks.
20. If there are no leaks, you have successfully repaired the L2900 Kabota tractor front axle oil leak.
