A Title Certificate of Destruction is issued by the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles (DHSMV) when a vehicle has been declared a total loss and is no longer considered to be a vehicle. Once a Title Certificate of Destruction has been issued, the vehicle cannot be registered again.
If you have a vehicle that has been declared a total loss, you will need to surrender the title to the DHSMV and obtain a salvage title. A salvage title can only be used to register the vehicle for parts use only.
