Where Can You Go for Quality Auto Service?

If you have not yet given your vehicle a little extra attention to survive the freezing temperatures of winter, it is not too late! So that you know your vehicle is in tip-top condition and that you are driving as safe as possible on winter roads, call your auto center and schedule auto service. The certified auto service technicians will be able to find any problems that may be hiding under the hood, or it may simply be time to take care of a maintenance item, such as an oil change or tire rotation.

There are five common issues that can develop over time on your vehicle. Your mechanic will check for the following during a basic auto service:

  • Leaking Fluid. Leaking engine oil (dark brown spots) or leaking coolant/antifreeze from the radiator (greenish fluid) means you could end up with an overheating engine, resulting in damage to the engine.
  • Noisy Brakes. Brake pads, rotors, calipers, and discs will start to squeal, squeak, or grind when they have become worn out and need to be replaced.
  • Unusual Sounds. Problems in the exhaust system, such as holes in the muffler, can cause rumbling or sputtering sounds. Also, chirping or screeching sounds coming from under the hood may be the drive belt or serpentine belt that has become brittle and frayed.
  • Roaring Tires. Humming, growling, or roaring sounds from the tires could mean several things—the tire tread is too low, a wheel bearing has gone bad, or the tires have become misaligned or are out-of-balance.
  • Warning Lights. Lights flashing on your instrument panel are warnings from the onboard diagnostic system alerting you about a problem. Ask your mechanic to run a diagnostic test to determine if the sensors are working properly or if there really is a problem that needs attention.

Remember: To ensure stress-free travel on cold snowy days, whether for a short commute to work or a winter road trip, ask your auto center to verify that you have taken care of all recommended auto service items at the appropriate interval, as well as any needed repair, whether major or minor.
