Instructions:
Step 1 - Prepare the Vehicle:
- Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
- Chock the rear wheels to prevent it from rolling.
Step 2 - Remove the Front Differential Cover:
- Locate the front differential cover, usually on the bottom of the differential housing.
- Remove the bolts holding the cover in place and carefully pry it off. Be prepared for some gear oil to drain out, so ensure you have a catch pan underneath.
Step 3 - Remove the Old Seals:
- Inspect the old seals for any damage or wear.
- Use a pry tool or a seal puller to remove the old seals from the differential housing.
Step 4 - Prepare the New Seals:
- Apply a small amount of RTV silicone sealant to the outer edges of the new seals.
- Press the new seals into the differential housing, ensuring they are seated correctly.
Step 5 - Reinstall the Differential Cover:
- Reinstall the differential cover using the bolts you removed earlier.
- Tighten the bolts securely and evenly.
Step 6 - Add Gear Oil:
- Refill the differential with the recommended amount and type of gear oil.
- Check the owner's manual or the differential tag for the correct information.
Step 7 - Test Drive:
- Take the vehicle for a short test drive and listen for any unusual noises or leaks.
- Check the differential oil level again to ensure it is correct.
