1) Remove the cylinder head cover
-Locate the cylinder head cover on the top of the engine.
-Remove the bolts holding the cylinder head cover in place and remove the cover.
-Locate the valves inside the cylinder head.
2) Check for bent valves
-Visually inspect the valves to see if they appear bent.
-If a valve appears bent, try to move it with your finger. If it does not move, it is likely bent.
-You can also use a straight edge to check if a valve is bent. If the straight edge does not contact the valve head along its entire length, the valve is bent.
3) Have the valves repaired
-If you find any bent valves, you will need to have them repaired.
-A mechanic can grind down the bent valve stem or replace the entire valve.
4) Replace the cylinder head cover
-Once the valves have been repaired, replace the cylinder head cover.
-Install the bolts and tighten them to the specified torque.
