- Pushrod remover tool
1. Locate the pushrods. The pushrods are located on the top of the engine, between the cylinder head and the valve covers.
2. Remove the valve covers. To remove the valve covers, use a socket wrench to loosen the bolts that hold them in place.
3. Locate the pushrod removal tool. The pushrod removal tool is a small, forked tool that is used to pry the pushrods out of their sockets.
4. Use the pushrod removal tool to remove the pushrods. Insert the forked end of the pushrod removal tool into the socket of the pushrod and pry it out of its socket.
5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for all of the pushrods.
6. Reinstall the valve covers. Once all of the pushrods have been removed, reinstall the valve covers and tighten the bolts that hold them in place.
Here are some additional tips for removing pushrods on a Ford engine:
- Be careful not to drop the pushrods. If a pushrod is dropped, it can be difficult to find.
- If the pushrods are stuck in their sockets, you can use a penetrating oil to loosen them up.
- When reinstalling the pushrods, make sure that they are seated properly in their sockets.
