Replacement starter
Instructions
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. This will prevent the engine from starting while you work on the starter.
2. Remove the air filter box. This will give you access to the starter.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the starter. This is a single connector that is held in place by a retaining clip.
4. Remove the two bolts that hold the starter to the engine block. These are 14mm bolts.
5. Remove the starter from the engine compartment. Be careful not to drop it.
6. Install the new starter.
- To install the starter, reverse the order of the steps above.
- Be sure to align the starter mounting holes carefully with the bolt holes in the engine block.
- Be careful not to over-tighten the starter mounting bolts.
7. Reconnect the battery cable. Start the engine and check for any leaks.
