Are all industrial trucks (lift trucks) are equipped with a clutch?

Not all industrial trucks (lift trucks) are equipped with a clutch. Some industrial trucks, particularly electric-powered models, use a direct-drive system that does not require a clutch. In a direct-drive system, the electric motor is directly connected to the transmission, eliminating the need for a clutch to engage and disengage the powertrain. This type of system is often used in smaller, lightweight industrial trucks, such as pallet jacks and walkie stackers.

Industrial trucks that are powered by internal combustion engines, such as diesel or gasoline, typically do have a clutch. The clutch in an internal combustion engine-powered industrial truck serves the same purpose as it does in a car or truck: to disconnect the engine from the transmission when the vehicle is stopped or when shifting gears. This allows the engine to continue running while the vehicle is stationary or the gears are being changed, preventing the engine from stalling.
