What types of skid occur when the brakes are applied so hard that front or rear wheels lose traction?

- Oversteer skid: This occurs when the rear wheels of a vehicle lose traction, causing the vehicle to rotate uncontrollably around its vertical axis. Oversteer can be corrected by decreasing the steering angle and releasing the brakes, or by applying throttle.

- Understeer skid: This occurs when the front wheels of a vehicle lose traction, causing the vehicle to continue in the direction it was originally headed, even if the steering wheel is turned. Understeer can be corrected by increasing the steering angle and releasing the brakes.
