1. Surrender your license plates to the Missouri Department of Revenue (DOR). You can do this in person at a DOR office or by mail. If you surrender your plates in person, you will need to bring your vehicle's title and registration. If you surrender your plates by mail, you will need to include a copy of your vehicle's title and registration, as well as a completed Form DOR-107.
2. Apply for a "non-use" status for your vehicle. You can do this by completing and submitting Form DOR-111 to the DOR. You will need to provide the following information on Form DOR-111:
* Your name and address
* Your vehicle's VIN number
* The date you surrendered your license plates
* The reason you are applying for non-use status
3. Pay the appropriate fees. The fee for a non-use status is $10. You can pay this fee in person at a DOR office or by mail.
Once you have completed these steps, your vehicle will be placed in non-use status. This means that you will not be required to renew your tags or pay any taxes or fees on your vehicle. However, you will not be able to drive your vehicle on public roads until you have reinstated your registration.
To reinstate your registration, you will need to:
1. Bring your vehicle to a Missouri inspection station for a safety inspection.
2. Pay the appropriate fees. The fee for reinstating your registration is $15. You can pay this fee in person at a DOR office or by mail.
3. Obtain new license plates. You can do this in person at a DOR office or by mail. If you obtain new plates in person, you will need to bring your vehicle's title and registration. If you obtain new plates by mail, you will need to include a copy of your vehicle's title and registration, as well as a completed Form DOR-107.
Once you have completed these steps, your vehicle will be registered and you will be able to drive it on public roads.
