Tools and Materials Needed:
- New coolant (check owner's manual for recommended type and quantity)
- Distilled water
- Funnel
- Rags
- Safety goggles
Procedure:
1. Park your Oldsmobile on a level surface and allow the engine to cool down completely.
2. Locate the radiator cap. It is usually located near the front of the engine compartment, on top of the radiator.
3. Open the radiator cap carefully. Be careful not to spill any coolant.
4. Add the recommended amount of coolant to the radiator.
5. Add distilled water to the radiator until the coolant level reaches the "Full" mark on the reservoir.
6. Replace the radiator cap securely.
7. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
8. Check the coolant level in the reservoir. If it is low, add more coolant until it reaches the "Full" mark.
9. Drive your Oldsmobile for a short distance and then check the coolant level again. If it is low, add more coolant until it reaches the "Full" mark.
10. Repeat steps 7-9 until the coolant level remains stable.
