Tools and Materials:
- Replacement Headlight Assembly
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Socket Wrench Set (8mm and 10mm)
- Flat-Head Screwdriver
- Torx Screwdriver (T15)
- Flashlight
Note: Before you start, make sure you disconnect the battery for safety. The negative terminal is usually marked with a "-" sign.
1. Open the Hood:
- Pull the hood release lever inside your car.
- Lift the hood and secure it with the support rod.
2. Remove the Headlight Cover:
- Locate the headlight cover on the back of the headlight assembly.
- Unlatch the cover by pushing down the release clips.
- Remove the headlight cover.
3. Disconnect the Electrical Connectors:
- Inside the headlight assembly, you'll find a few electrical connectors.
- Use the flat-head screwdriver to gently release the connectors by pressing the tabs.
- Carefully unplug the electrical connectors.
4. Remove the Torx Screws:
- Use the Torx screwdriver (T15) to remove the two Torx screws that hold the headlight assembly in place.
5. Loosen the Bumper Fasteners:
- There are several fasteners along the top of the front bumper that need to be loosened. Use the 10mm socket wrench for these.
- You don't need to completely remove them, just loosen them enough to allow the bumper cover to flex slightly.
6. Remove the Front Bumper Cover:
- Use the 8mm socket wrench to remove the plastic rivets that hold the lower portion of the bumper in place.
- At this point, the bumper cover should be loose and free to be pulled off. Carefully pull the front bumper cover by grasping the edges, working your way around the entire headlight opening.
7. Replace the Headlight Assembly:
- With the bumper cover removed, you should now have clear access to the headlight assembly.
- Remove the old headlight assembly by carefully pulling it out of its socket. Disconnect any remaining bulbs or wires if needed.
- Install the new headlight assembly by aligning it with the socket and pushing it in gently until it clicks into place.
8. Reconnect the Electrical Connectors:
- Reconnect the electrical connectors that you unplugged earlier. Make sure they are secure.
9. Replace the Torx Screws:
- Replace the two Torx screws that you removed earlier to secure the headlight assembly.
10. Replace the Front Bumper Cover:
- Carefully align the bumper cover with the car and push it back into place.
- Reinstall the plastic rivets and tighten them using the 8mm socket wrench.
- Tighten the bumper fasteners on the top that you loosened earlier using the 10mm socket wrench.
11. Test the Headlight:
- Turn on your headlights to ensure the new headlight assembly is functioning properly.
12. Reconnect the Battery:
- Reconnect the negative terminal of the battery.
