How do you change motor mounts on Mercedes Benz 1998 C230?

Tools Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Wrench set

- Socket set

- Ratchet

- Pry bar

- New motor mounts

Instructions

Step 1: Park your car in a safe location and turn off the engine.

Be sure to engage the parking brake and chock the wheels.

Step 2: Raise your car with the jack and secure it on jack stands.

Ensure the car is safe and stable before you begin working.

Step 3: Locate the motor mounts.

On the 1998 C230 the motor mounts are located on either side of the engine, near the front of the vehicle.

Step 4: Support the engine with a pry bar.

Carefully insert the pry bar between the engine and a sturdy part of the car such as the subframe. This will help to prevent the engine from moving when you remove the motor mounts.

Step 5: Unbolt the motor mounts.

Use the wrench and socket set to remove the bolts that secure the motor mounts to the engine and the car frame. Be sure to remove all of the bolts on each side.

Step 6: Remove the old motor mounts.

Once all of the bolts have been removed, carefully remove the old motor mounts from the vehicle.

Step 7: Install the new motor mounts.

Place the new motor mounts in position and hand-tighten the bolts. Once all the bolts are in place, use the wrench and socket set to fully tighten them. Be careful not to over-tighten the bolts.

Step 8: Remove the pry bar.

Carefully remove the pry bar from between the engine and the vehicle.

Step 9: Lower your car from the jack stands.

Once you have finished changing the motor mounts, lower your car from the jack stands and remove the chocks from the wheels.

The total project time should take approximately 1-2 hours.
