What is a wiper motor?

A wiper motor is an electric motor that powers the windshield wipers of a vehicle. It is usually located in the engine compartment, and is connected to the wiper transmission by a series of gears or linkages. The wiper motor receives power from the vehicle's electrical system, and is controlled by a switch on the dashboard. When the switch is turned on, the wiper motor starts running and the wipers begin to move across the windshield.

Wiper motors are typically small, lightweight, and powerful. They are designed to operate continuously for long periods of time, and are often equipped with a thermal overload protection feature to prevent them from overheating. Wiper motors can also be equipped with variable-speed controls, which allow the driver to adjust the speed of the wipers.

In addition to their primary function of clearing rain, snow, and debris from the windshield, wiper motors can also be used to operate other accessories, such as the windshield washer fluid pump.
