What is a coil and how does bad one effect vehicle?

An ignition coil is an electrical device that converts the low voltage of the battery into the high voltage needed to create an electrical spark in spark plug.

Ignition coils are made up of a primary winding and a secondary winding. The primary winding is connected to the battery, and the secondary winding is connected to the spark plugs. When electricity flows through the primary winding, it creates a magnetic field. This magnetic field then induces a high voltage in the secondary winding, which is what creates the spark at the spark plugs.

If an ignition coil goes bad, it can cause a number of problems, including:

* Engine misfires

* Reduced engine power

* Poor fuel economy

* Rough idling

* Stalling

If you experience any of these symptoms, it's important to have your ignition coils checked by a qualified mechanic.
